Hyderabad: Book-a-Call with BLO as Telangana gets ready for voter revision (SIR)
Hyderabad: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has directed all district collectors and district election officers to give wide publicity to the phone numbers of Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The promotion of their contact details is to actively promote the ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ facility available on the Election Commission of India’s ECINET platform to improve voter mapping and verification.
Exercise to correct and validate voter information
In a memo issued on Wednesday, Telangana CEO C Sudharshan Reddy said the initiative would enable electors to directly contact their respective BLOs through the ECINET system to correct and validate their details during the ongoing electoral roll revision process.
The memo instructs officials to ensure that Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) immediately update any changes in BLO contact numbers on the ERO Net platform. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner, along with district collectors and district election officers across the State, have been asked to issue necessary directions to field staff for effective implementation of the facility.
Exercise to improve accuracy of electoral rolls
Terming the instructions as ‘Most Important’, the CEO stressed the need for proactive outreach so that electors can easily book calls with BLOs for mapping and verification of their particulars.
The directive follows earlier communications from the Election Commission of India aimed at strengthening public interface mechanisms and improving the accuracy of electoral rolls at a time when special intensive revisions are underway in several States.
