Electricity employees’ maha dharna causes traffic jam in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A large number of electricity employees flocked to Vidyut Soudha in Khairatabad, Hyderabad on Friday, in response to the call of ‘Chalo Vidyut Soudha’ given by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Telangana electricity employees. The employees held a ‘maha dharna’ to demand a solution to their long-pending problems, particularly for wage revision and resolving the issues faced by artisan workers.

As a result of the maha dharna, heavy traffic jams occurred on the Khairatabad–Punjagutta road, causing severe inconvenience to motorists. Heavy vehicles were stuck in the area, leading to traffic congestion. To control the situation, police were deployed to prevent any untoward incidents.

The electricity employees who participated in the maha dharna came from different districts to raise their voices for their demands. The JAC of electricity employees has been demanding a wage revision and a resolution to the problems faced by artisan workers for quite some time now. The maha dharna was held at Vidyut Soudha, Khairatabad, which is the headquarters of the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited.
