Eye on elections: KCR announces 91K jobs for Telangana youth

Hyderabad: With an eye on polls, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Reddy on Wednesday announced to provide over 91000 jobs to the youth of Telangana.

Around 91,142 job vaccines will be filled in the state. Of which 80,039 posts will be filled by direct recruitment. Contractual employees will also be part of a new scheme. Around 11,103 contractual employees will be regularised.

The financial implication for the posts would be Rs 7,300 crore per annum. "Upper age limit for unemployed will be relaxed by 10 years. So now the age limit will be 44 years for OC, 49 years for SC, ST, BC, 54 years for differently-abled, and 47 years for ex-servicemen", said KCR.

Telangana Government has notified 1,56,254 posts for recruitment after the formation of the state. Of which 1,33,942 posts have been filled up. The remaining 22,312 posts are under different stages of the recruitment process.

The direct recruitment to certain categories of posts, which were categorized as Group-I, Group-II, Group-III, and Group-IV, was held up mainly on account of the amendments in the Presidential Order, 2018. This was to ensure 95% reservation for local candidates in direct recruitment in (33) districts, (7) Zonal and (2) Multi Zonal cadres, which are as below.

"For other parties, politics is a game but for TRS, it is a mission. We are the first state with the lowest debts in India Not even one rupee was wasted from the allocated funds. There are situations when people blame me. Our focus is on developing the state and therefore we kept calm", he said.

KCR said Telangana is one of the top states in terms of per capita GST. "TS is the only state to give clean 24-hour power to all districts. Inadequate representation and injustice in public employment to the local candidates was one of the issues that led to the demand for a separate state. The government, therefore, has always been conscious of the aspirations of the local candidates regarding employment in the government sector", he said.

He said the Telangana government has succeeded in obtaining a new Presidential Order for Telangana under Article 371-D of the Constitution, which provides 95 percent reservations in favor of local candidates.

"It starts from lowest cadre to posts equivalent to Deputy Collector. The reservation for local candidates under the new Presidential Order is substantially higher. From attender to RDO, there is a 95% quota for locals in jobs. Only 5% for non-locals can be accommodated. Earlier, there was a 20% quota for non-locals", he said.

He said local candidates can compete for the district and zonal cadre posts.
