Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister KCR laid the foundation stone for the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) super-specialty hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The state will build three TIMS in Alwal, LB Nagar, and Santhanagar at a cost of Rs. 2,679 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, KCR said TIMS will be an autonomous institute like the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Post-graduate medical education in 16 specialties and 15 super-specialty courses will be provided in TIMS in addition to nursing and para-medical courses.
Each hospital will have 200 faculty members along with 500 resident doctors. The hospital will also be equipped with 26 operation theatres and will provide chemotherapy, dialysis CT scans, and MRI services. Quarters for faculty and resident doctors will also be provided.
Each hospital will have 1,000 beds to provide all special medical services to the patients. KCR said the health department is planning to have a total of 6,000 beds in Hyderabad (all government hospitals included) with oxygen.
He also announced that an additional 2,000 beds will be added to the Nizam Orthopaedic Hospital.
TIMS Alwal will be built at a cost of Rs. 897 crore on 28.41 acres in G+5 (floors) model. TIMS LB Nagar will be built at a cost of Rs. 900 crore on 21.36 acres in G+14 (floors) model. TIMS Sanathnagar will be built at a cost of Rs. 882 crores on 60 acres in G+14 model.
