Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) announced a hike in the rates of bus passes. Thanks to increasing diesel prices, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has also decided to hike the cost of its passes by about Rs 200.

New rates will be applicable from April 1. the charges for bus passes were also enhanced from Rs 950 a month to Rs 1,150 a month for ordinary buses, Rs 1,070 to Rs 1,300 for metro express, Rs 1,185 to Rs 1,450 for metro deluxe, Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,450 for metro luxury and Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 for Pushpak services.



In less than 10 days, TSRTC has slapped one more fare hike on passengers. The fare in all bus services other than ordinary has gone up. The State-owned bus transport services provider, which termed the hike as a passenger cess, issued an order very discreetly on March 23.

This time the increase was imposed as a passenger cess in the range of Rs 5 to Rs 10 in addition to the prevailing fares for express, deluxe, super luxury, Rajadhani, Garuda, and Garuda Plus services.

This means that in the first category, a bus passenger would have to pay more than Rs 5 per journey, in respect of adult as well as child passengers, and more than Rs 5 and up to Rs 10 per journey in respect of adults as well as child passengers.

It was only on March 19 that the corporation had hiked the basic fare of Rs 10 by Rs 5 for ordinary, metro deluxe, and metro express services in Hyderabad. The fare of Palle Velugu services was also enhanced but they were rounded off to Rs 5. As such a charge of Rs 16 or Rs 17 was rounded off to Rs 15 and Rs 18, and Rs 19 was increased to Rs 20.
