Hyderabad: A 75-year-old woman who went missing from Nizamabad was reunited with her family by the Helping Hand Foundation Old Age Home.

Balamma, a mentally challenged woman from a remote village under Banswada in Nizamabad district, was picked up by the HHF Old Age Home team at the request of the Begumpet police on 8 August.

The team shifted her to the old age home and treated her for pneumonia. She recovered and stayed at the home for four months.

One of the volunteers constantly quizzed her to get information about her whereabouts. He asked her about districts and prominent temples in the two Telugu states. She finally recognised a prominent temple near Banswada.

The HHF team reached out to Banswada DCP who found a missing complaint at the local police station. The family was contacted and they came to Hyderabad on 2 December. They recognised the woman and took her home. The family was happy to find their lost mother and grandmother.
