Gulf workers angry over zero allocation in budget; mull setting up political platform

Hyderabad: Gulf JAC chairman Guggilla Ravi Goud wrote an open letter to all political parties on Tuesday alleging that the BRS-led Telangana government has not made any provision for the welfare of Gulf workers in the recent budget. Gulf workers are now looking to establish a political platform to fight for their issues, he added.

Mr. Ravi Goud said they are thinking of a political solution to the problem of Gulf workers based on the quote “When politics decides everything in your life, decide what your future politics should be.” He said Gulf workers, Gulf returnees, and their family members are thinking of a political way against the expensive corporate political forces. “We will start our activities as an Assembly constituency unit at the field level with the slogan of ‘Zero Budget Politics’,” he added.

Movements and politics have something similar—unity in diversity, so both non-political movements and political fights will happen simultaneously, he said and added that as their movement was being ignored, efforts are being made to establish a political platform for the Gulf workers.

He said they have selected 13 Assembly constituencies in the first batch that have the highest number of Gulf migrants in Telangana state. They are: Nirmal, Mudhol, Khanapur, Vemulawada, Sircilla, Choppadandi, Balkonda, Armor, Korutla, Jagtial, Dharmapuri, Yellareddy, and Kamareddy.
