Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundarrajan on Sunday ordered chief secretary Somesh Kumar and DGP M. Mahender Reddy to submit a report on the Jubilee Hills gang-rape case within two days.

The Governor, after going through various media reports on the incident, said she was deeply anguished over the heinous incident and has therefore sought a report on the same.

As of Sunday morning, four of the accused have been arrested, including three minors. The fifth accused is absconding. According to west zone DCP Joel Davis, all the juveniles are in the age group of 16-17 years.

Earlier, on 3 June, MAUD minister KTR had tweeted, "Outraged & shocked with the news of the rape of a minor in Hyderabad Request HM @mahmoodalitrs Garu @TelanganaDGP Garu and @CPHydCity to take immediate & stern action. Please don't spare anyone involved irrespective of their statuses or affiliations."

A 17-year-old girl in the city who was returning from a party was allegedly sexually assaulted by a group of youngsters in a moving vehicle in the Jubilee Hills area in the city on 28 May. The son of an influential person was allegedly involved in the incident along with four other people. The police had earlier registered a case under section 354 (outrage of modesty) of the IPC and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girl was sent for medical examination and the police altered the case and added section 376 (gang rape) of the IPC.
