On Friday, 30-year-old G. Santosh took his mother Padma (58), who hailed from Ramayampet, for treatment. They were staying at a hotel. The hotel employees noticed smoke coming out of their room and called the police and fire department officials who found their charred bodies.
A suicide note and a mobile phone video were found in the room in which Santosh alleged harassment by Ramayampet municipal chairman Palle Jitender Goud and circle inspector Nagarjuna Goud who had earlier worked in Ramayampet and is currently posted in Tungaturthi. Santosh blamed five others for their deaths and alleged harassment at their hands.
Santosh attached photos of all seven people in his video.
"My name is Gannam Santosh. My father is Anjayya and my mother is Padma. These seven are responsible for our death. For the last 18 months, these seven are not letting us stay in peace. We lost our assets and are in debt," Santosh says in the video.
Padma says, "My son has done no mistake, but the man called Jitendar tried to trap him in a case and sent him to jail. We are leaving everyone and killing ourselves."
The Kamareddy police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Ramayampet municipal chairman, Jithender Goud, and six others. An FIR under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC was registered against the seven.
While the Kamareddy police are on the lookĀout for the accused who drove the mother-son duo to suicide, tension prevailed at Ramayampet town when relatives, friends, and locals staged a demonstration, taking the bodies of the victims to Mr. Goud's house.
Kamareddy DSP M. Somanath and SHO Naresh said the bodies were handed over to the family members of the victims after post-mortem.
Investigators believe the victims doused themselves in petrol and set themselves on fire. By the time officials managed to douse the blaze, the two were dead.
