Hyderabad: A Telangana High Court Single Bench of Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy directed the superintendent of police, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, and the deputy superintendent of police, Kothagudem division, to accord permission and arrange sufficient police bandobast to conduct the āAthmeeya Sammelanamā (public meeting) in the Prakasam Stadium, Kothagudem on 9 April.
The court imposed a few conditions, including that there be no provocative speeches against the BRS government and the Chief Minister of Telangana and no use of DJ sound systems.
The judge was hearing a lunch motion writ petition filed by Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, former Member of Parliament, Khammam, and Narendra Kumar Trivedi, a politician, seeking direction to the superintendent of police, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, and deputy superintendent of police, Kothagudem division, to accord permission and made sufficient police bandobast/arrangements to conduct the āAthmeeya Sammelanam.ā
The petitioners made a representation to the superintendent of police, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, and deputy superintendent of police, Kothagudem, on 4 April seeking permission, though the police didnāt act upon the representation. Hence, the writ petition.
The writ petition was disposed of.
