Hyderabad: A Telangana High Court Single Bench of Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy directed the superintendent of police, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, and the deputy superintendent of police, Kothagudem division, to accord permission and arrange sufficient police bandobast to conduct the ā€˜Athmeeya Sammelanamā€™ (public meeting) in the Prakasam Stadium, Kothagudem on 9 April.

The court imposed a few conditions, including that there be no provocative speeches against the BRS government and the Chief Minister of Telangana and no use of DJ sound systems.

The judge was hearing a lunch motion writ petition filed by Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, former Member of Parliament, Khammam, and Narendra Kumar Trivedi, a politician, seeking direction to the superintendent of police, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, and deputy superintendent of police, Kothagudem division, to accord permission and made sufficient police bandobast/arrangements to conduct the ā€˜Athmeeya Sammelanam.ā€™

The petitioners made a representation to the superintendent of police, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, and deputy superintendent of police, Kothagudem, on 4 April seeking permission, though the police didnā€™t act upon the representation. Hence, the writ petition.

The writ petition was disposed of.
