Hyderabad: On Friday, the Telangana High Court set aside the order of conviction against Warangal West BRS MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and 18 others in a case registered during a protest for a separate Telangana State.
A case was registered when the MLA and 100 of his followers organised a rail roko by squatting on the railway track of Kazipet protesting for separate statehood.
A Special Sessions Judge for the trial of criminal cases relating to elected MPs and MLAs in Hyderabad passed orders on July 28, 2021, convicting the MLA and his followers under various sections of the Railway Protection Act, imposing a fine of Rs 1,000 on each of the accused and, in the event of default, the accused were directed to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of one month.
On Friday, a single bench of Justice K Lakshman set aside the order passed by Special Sessions Judge against Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and 18 who were holding the rail roko.
Justice K Lakshman heard the plea filed by Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar seeking a direction to set aside the judgment on July 28, 2021, passed in case number 81 of 2018 on the file of the Special Sessions Judge for the trial of criminal cases relating to elected MPs and MLAs of the State of Telangana, Hyderabad.
