Hyderabad: On Tuesday, the Telangana High Court Division Bench reminded the state government to pass orders on the appointments of chairman and members to the Telangana Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The court asked for a report on the same by September 15.

The Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice T Vinod Kumar, was adjudicating a PIL filed by Ganesh Rao and J Shankar from Secunderabad and Karimnagar districts, seeking a direction to the Telangana government to fill up the aforementioned posts as they have been vacant for a long time.

With no chief and members to direct the commission, many who approached the commission with their grievances had to go back without a solution.

On February 28, 2023, the court issued notices to the chief secretary, principal secretary to the Government, Scheduled Castes Development POA A1 Department and the Telangana State Commission for SCs and STs, directing them to take steps to fill up the vacancies in the commission.

The case was adjourned to September 15.
