Heavy rains ahead: Red alert for 9 TS districts on 8 August
According to reports, a low-pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha-Bengal coasts.

According to the IMD's weather forecast, these districts are expected to receive heavy to extremely heavy rains.
The red alert has been issued for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Mulugu for Monday. Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Urban), and Warangal (Rural) districts have been issued an orange alert. In Hyderabad, there is no rain alert.
On 9 August, the red alert will remain in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, and Mancherial. Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Jagtial have orange alerts for Tuesday.
Earlier, on 6 August, independent weather observer T. Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, had warned of severe rains in different districts of Telangana from 7-9 August. "Due to strong LPA (Low Pressure Area), there will be severe flooding rains in North and East Telangana during 7-9 Aug, peak effect on Aug 8,9. Other districts will get moderate rains," he tweeted. He also said Hyderabad will have gloomy and cool weather with intermittent moderate rains.

The sudden increase in the rains is expected to be due to the cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal and nearby areas. According to reports, a low-pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha-Bengal coasts.
Meanwhile, Mulkacharla in Nalgonda received the highest rainfall, 82.3 mm, in the state followed by Piddaldhari in Adilabad (58.8 mm), and Peddampet in Jayashankar Bhupalpally (48.8 mm), according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society's real-time data. In Hyderabad, Himayatnagar received the highest rainfall of 13.8 mm.
