Humanity first: Mahabubabad bus driver, conductor felicitated for helping deceased passenger reach home

Hyderabad: In an incident that brings hope to humanity, the staff of Mahabubabad bus helped transport the body of a deceased passenger, who died in the bus, back to their home in the same bus. The unfortunate incident occurred when the passenger suffered a sudden heart attack while travelling in the bus, resulting in sudden death.

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) managing director and vice chairman, VC Sajjanar, appreciated the goodness of the depot’s staff for their compassionate gesture.

Despite the challenging circumstances, the staff members ensured that the deceased passenger’s body was respectfully taken back to their home on the same bus where the incident occurred.

Going into details, the bus from the Mahabubabad depot was en route to Mahabubabad from Khammam on Wednesday evening with 52 passengers. K Hussain (57) was among them. The resident of Modugulagudeni in Kuravi mandal suffered a heart attack while he was sleeping. The bus reached Maisamma temple at the time.

“During this critical moment, conductor K Nagaiah and driver Komuraiah acted promptly. With the assistance of fellow passengers, they performed CPR on Hussain. The emergency services (108) were called. However, the passenger had already passed away by then. The 108 personnel declined to transport the deceased to the victim’s native village. Understanding the gravity of the situation, the conductor and driver promptly reported the matter to higher authorities. They then proceeded to carefully transport the deceased body, covering 30 km, to the passenger’s home in the same bus, earning praise from all those involved,” said TSRTC MD.

In recognition of their compassionate gesture, Nagaiah and Komuraiah, and depot manager Vijay, who took a special initiative during the incident, were felicitated at a ceremony held at Bus Bhavan in Hyderabad on Saturday.
