Hyderabad: Women wear Smriti Irani masks to protest gas cylinder price hike

Women wearing masks of Union minister Smriti Irani protest at the BJP office in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: The rising prices of essential commodities have become a major concern for the public. Following the recent hike in gas cylinder prices, protests led by Hyderabad Youth Congress president Motha Rohit were held at the BJP office in Nampally and Koranti Chowrastha.

The women protestors wore masks of Union minister Smriti Irani. The protest aimed to bring attention to the areas where gas cylinder prices have risen sharply, making it difficult for people.

Union minister Smriti Irani, who had previously protested against the gas cylinder price hike when it was at Rs. 410, has remained silent as the prices have tripled. The women wearing Smriti Irani masks showed their frustration at this lack of action.

Motha Rohit, the president of Hyderabad Youth Congress, said, “We intend to make people aware of the fake promises made by Narendra Modi. If the government doesn’t look at people’s agony and rollback the decision, the protests will continue.” Rohit also said that the Congress party has already demonstrated its commitment to addressing this issue by providing gas cylinders at a lower cost of Rs. 500 per cylinder. He said, “If we come into power, Congress will implement this policy in all states.”

The protest aims to expose the false promises made by the government and demand immediate measures to curb the price rise and provide some relief to the common man. The women at the protest hope that their message will be heard and that the government will take action to address the issue.
