Hyderabad: Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Telangana Party (YRSTP) chief Y S Sharmila said that the Telangana state has turned into a place filled with landmines for women under chief minister KCR's rule. On Monday, she has been taken into preventive custody by the police for staging a protest against the state government over atrocities against women at Tank Bund, marking International Women's Day.

She was initially taken to the Bollaram Police Station, and later shifted to her residence in the Lotus Pond area.

The protest by Sharmila comes a day after Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar accused the state government of attempting to protect officials responsible for the suicide of Dr Peethi, a postgraduate medical student at Kakatiya Medical College (KMC), in Warangal.

Speaking to the media, Sharmila said, "While KCR thinks that only his daughter, BRS MLC Kavitha represents women, it is to be reminded that she has put the women to shame and disgrace by being caught in a Delhi Liquor Scam."

Sharmila stated that the state now has the dubious record of registering the most rapes and kidnapping cases against women, and IT Minister KTR's constituency witnessed rapes against minors. She highlighted how Dalit women are assaulted and killed in lockups, but KCR won't say a word.

"Where is the Bharosa app, as flaunted by KTR? I checked myself, and it's defunct. Zero-interest loans, Women's business hubs, and industrial areas are all fake promises", questioned Sharmila. She stated that Kavitha has no moral right to fight in Delhi against Women's Reservation Bill, as her father, KCR himself, has not kept the word.
