In Mancherial, residents come together to install solar high-mast lights

Mancherial: Residents of colonies in Chennur and Kyathanpalli municipalities here inaugurated solar panel high-mast lights in various wards in the presence of Congress leaders.

The initiative, Congress leaders said, has been taken up in the constituency a week after Labour and Mines Minister Dr G Vivek Venkataswamy called for developing Chennur Municipality into a model urban local body with comprehensive growth across all sectors.

Works in Kyathanpalli Municipality

This week, Congress leaders and colony residents inaugurated solar panel high mast lights in various wards of Kyathanpalli Municipality, including Gadderagadi Vinayaka Colony (8th Ward), the old vegetable market in Lenin Nagar (Ward 20), Kyathanpalli Cross Road, Ganesh Township, and Padmavati Colony in Old Thimmapur (Ward 9), and Ganga Colony (Ward 16).

These installations, costing approximately Rs 17.50 lakh, were in response to local demands for better lighting.

Residents expressed gratitude to Minister Vivek Venkataswamy for fulfilling their requests, noting improved safety for children’s play areas, playgrounds for celebrating Bathukamma, and evening gatherings.

Works in Chennur Municipality

In Chennur Municipality, solar high mast lights were installed on Padmasali Kalyana Mandapam Street (Ward 9) and near Kammalolla Vada Pedda Bavi in Jendawada (2nd Ward).

“Solar high mast lights are being installed everywhere in Chennur Municipality on the main roads and in all 18 wards, wherever solar lights are needed. With the initiative of our Minister Vivek Venkataswamy, the work is progressing very rapidly as per the promise he made during the municipal elections,” said Congress leaders during the inauguration.

Additionally, sewer drains have been cleared in Kajipura, Bokkalagudem, and Jendawada under the second ward of Chennur Municipality.

What’s next for Chennur?

In the last week of February, Minister Vivek Venkataswamy outlined a roadmap for a Chennur model municipality and directed elected representatives to accelerate development across all sectors.

The government has grounded projects worth about Rs 50 crore. Contractors are laying borewells, CC roads and side drains in several areas.

Moreover, the minister assured that authorities will supply drinking water to every household under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, fulfilling an election promise. He also announced a dedicated drinking water project using Godavari River water for town residents.

Besides this, the municipality will soon begin road widening works. Earlier, the government allocated funds to build community halls for caste associations. Following public demand, officials will supply Godavari sand to locals within six months, the government said.

Further, the government sanctioned 100 new Indiramma houses for the municipality.

In addition, officials sanctioned and distributed about Rs 18 crore as compensation to farmers in Devulawada, Babberu and Cheluk villages. The town will inaugurate a 100-bed hospital in May.
