By Newsmeter Network Published on 4 March 2022 11:39 AM GMTHyderabad: BJP leader A.P Jithender Reddy on Friday called the conspiracy to murder Telangana Excise, prohibition, and tourism minister V. Srinivas Goud "bogus".
The former TRS MP told NewsMeter he was not involved in the conspiracy and he had only provided "accommodation and not shelter" to the accused. "Munnuru Ravi is from my constituency (Mahboobnagar). However, to my knowledge he had no FIR registered against him when he visited my residence," Mr. Jithender said.
He added, "As an MP, it is one of my responsibilities to provide accommodation when necessary to the party workers."
Mr. Jithender also made it clear that he has not received any notice from the Cyberabad police.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader D.K Aruna, while talking to NewsMeter, called the case a "TRS conspiracy". She said, "This is like the plot of a movie."
She added that the real issue was the election petition filed against Srinivas Goud by one of the accused in the case. "The man had reached out to me with help regarding the petition. The Election Commission is currently reviewing it. This is TRS's way to take revenge on us," she said.
"The man told me that the petition stated that Srinivas Goud had tampered with the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission," she added.
Ms. Aruna further demanded that the CBI take up the case and launch an inquiry. "The real brains behind the conspiracy should be found," she said.
The Cyberabad police have filed a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder), 120B (party to criminal conspiracy), 115 (abetment of an offense punishable with death or imprisonment for life—if offense not committed) of the Indian Penal Code against the accused.
