Hyderabad: Telangana minister for municipal administration and urban development K.T Rama Rao has come to the aid of two students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) who were unable to pursue medical studies due to financial problems.
A. Akhila and T. Spandana, who cleared NEET 2021 and the first round of counselling, had secured seats in Mallareddy College for Women, Hyderabad, and Tammannagari Ramakrishna Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences (TRRM), Sangareddy, respectively. They were unable to join as their parents were unable to afford the fees.
KTR met Akhila and Spandana and assured them financial assistance to continue their studies. The two had reached out to the minister on Twitter.
Akhila secured 440 marks and bagged an all-India rank (AIR) of 1,43,881 while Spandana secured a score of 438 and an AIR of 1,46,254.
This year, a total of 190 students from TSWREIS cleared the first round of counselling, securing seats in various medical colleges across the state.
