Hyderabad: Telangana IT and industry minister K.T Rama Rao on Friday laid the foundation for the IT Hub at Polytechnic College in Nalgonda.

The Nalgonda IT Hub will be constructed on three acres with a built-up area of 75,000 sqft. This state-of-art facility will have all advanced facilities in a plug-and-play manner. Nine companies have already signed MoUs with the Telangana government to set up their offices in Nalgonda IT Hub and seven more companies have shown keen interest in having their offices here.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that as part of the government's policy to encourage IT in tier 2 towns in the state, IT hubs had been set up in Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, and now in Nalgonda.

The construction of the IT Hub will be completed in 18 months and it will create employment opportunities for at least 1,600 people, the minister said. Before laying the foundation stone for the IT hub, KTR inaugurated the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes hostel buildings in Nalgonda.
