Major spike in COVID 19 cases in Telangana, 1,052 new cases on Tuesday
On Monday, the state had reported only 482 cases. The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 4,858.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 4 Jan 2022 3:39 PM GMTHyderabad: Telangana added 1,052 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, pushing the cumulative caseload of the state to 6,84,023. On Monday, the state had reported only 482 cases. The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 4858.
Two more COVID-19 death was reported in the last 24 hours, the toll in the state due to the pandemic now stands at 4033 translating a case fatality rate of 0.58 per cent.
Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was the main contributor of the infection by registering a maximum of 659 new cases during the last 24 hours, followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri (116) Rangareddy (109), and Mahabubabad (17). The day's remaining coronavirus cases have been registered by other districts.
A total of 240 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide in a span of 24 hours taking the overall recoveries thus far to 6,75,8132 constituting a recovery rate of 98.70 per cent.
As many as 42,991 samples were tested in the state during the past 24 hours out of which the results of 5,481 swab samples are awaited. Cumulatively, 2,98,40,610 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, 10 more new Omicron cases were reported in Telangana on January 4.
Out of the 10 new cases, five are from non-risk countries and five are from risk countries. The total tally of Omicron cases in the state has become 94.
