Malkajgiri: Tension after authorities tried to stop BJYM treasurer’s nutritional kits distribution

Hyderabad: An altercation broke out when district medical health officials tried to stop BJYM treasurer PM Sai Prasad's free nutritional kits distribution at Malkajgiri.

PM Sai Prasad was conducting ‘AMMA KOSAM’. A 'Team SAI’ initiative, PM Sai Prasad distributed 800 nutrition kits to pregnant women & lactating mothers free of cost. The kits consist of protein powder, hemoglobin syrup, dates, fiber biscuits, peanut chiki, and toys.

The altercation broke out when the authorities allegedly attempted to stop the distribution citing violation of a government order.

“No donations will be accepted from private individuals or CSR by any officer without prior approval of the government. However Sai Prasad contended that the GO is for government officials however the kits are being distributed to private people and does not fall under any violation,” said the GO dated February 26, 2022.

On the directions of the medical staff, Malkajgiri Police officials allegedly broke the gate lock where the kits were placed. They displayed a copy of a G.O.

“I had to educate them that GO for only for Government employees and not private persons. The officials tried to stop citing that permissions should be sought for distributing these kits to government authorities and govt institutions, rather than individuals engaging in service activities,” said Sai Prasad.

P M Sai Prasad alleged that the officials were acting on behalf of BRS MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao. Earlier also, the MLA attempted to disrupt another program connected to Team SAI Sports Utsav.

"Despite these challenges, the Sai Sports Festival was successfully conducted. They even escalated their efforts by making threats and filing false SC/ST atrocity cases against him and Team Sai members. They tried to obstruct our program using the same tactics," Sai added.

PM Sai Prasad, National Treasurer of BJYM is also the founding member of Team SAI.
