A mining officer was killed when a coal block came crashing down at Singareni in the Mancherial district of Telangana on Friday.

Mancherial: A mining officer was killed when a coal block came crashing down at Singareni in the Mancherial district of Telangana on Friday.

Police identified the deceased as Purushotham. The victim was at work in the mine when a coal block crashed. He received serious wounds and was shifted to Singareni Hospital, Ramakrishnapur. However, he succumbed en route to the hospital.

A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, the police added.

It should be recalled that on November 10 four miners of SCCL died after the roof of an underground mine collapsed. The incident had occurred at SCCL's SRP 3 and 3A incline underground mine The incident occurred when miners were busy working in the first shift. The deceased workers were identified as Krishna Reddy, 59, Lakshmaiah, 60, Chandrashekhar, and Narasimha Raju, 30. They were extracting coal when the roof suddenly collapsed.
