By Newsmeter Network Published on 31 Oct 2022 3:05 PM GMTHyderabad: On Monday, The High Court Division Bench headed by Justice A. Abhishek Reddy and Justice Juvvadi Sridevi heard the writ petition filed by MLA T. Raja Singh's wife seeking to direct the state government and state police to henceforth set free the detenu T.Raja Singh, MLA of Goshamahal Constituency by quashing the order of Preventive Detention as being illegal.
On behalf of the petitioner T. Usha Bai, Senior Counsel Ravichandra argued the matter on Monday afternoon for about 2 hours.
"The detenu T. Raja Singh is a respectable public representative and has rendered services to the constituency people as well as the needy, irrespective of caste, creed, and religion. The detention against Raja Singh is politically motivated and the charges against him are fabricated, baseless, and concocted to defame him as well as to damage his character in society," argued Senior Counsel Ravichandra.
Counsel Ravichandra said Raja Singh was like Bhakt Ramdas, as Bhakta Ramdas is a disciple of Bhagwan Ram, whereas, Raja Singh is faithful to his faith and religion.
Counsel Ravichandra argued that Raja Singh never criticized the Prophet, the allegation against Raja Singh is baseless and concocted. The state government has booked Raja Singh in several cases without any substantial evidence to defame his character and morality in society.
Further, Counsel Ravichandra informed the Court that Raja Singh has only criticized the standup comedian Munawar Farooqui, regarding his malicious comments on Hindu Deities. "Aka means Boss, Raja Singh has only commented against Aka of Stand Up Comedian Farooqui and not on Prophet, further, there is no reference to religion or God, Counsel Ravichandra averred," he said.
The police are implementing a non-trial conviction against Raja Singh on irrelevant grounds and have implemented illegal detention, Sr. Counsel Ravichandra argued.
The division bench said that they will continue to hear the matter on Tuesday afternoon.
