No relief to MLA Rohit Reddy from Telangana high court

Hyderabad: Mr. Rohit Reddy MLA BRS Tandur does not get any relief from High Court in ED investigation against him. Justice K. Lakshman was not convinced with the contention of Mr. Niranjan Reddy, Senior counsel and MP YSRCP party AP, appearing for the petitioner.

Mr Niranjan Reddy argued that the Enforcement Directorate has no jurisdiction to issue summons to Mr Rohit Reddy as there was no proceeds (money) found at the Moinabad Farmhouse. Moreover, Rupees 100 crores was offered during the talks, but not a single rupee was found by Police. This makes it nobody's case. There was no money found or transferred.

The Enforcement Directorate is not following the three accused Ramchandra Bharati, Nandu Kumar and Swamiji. They indulged in inducing Rohith Reddy and four MLAs of BRS to join into BJP. Instead ED is behind the petitioner.

Further, ED notice seeking information from petitioner, his family members, info pertaining to 2014 etc., has no relevance to this case. The Moinabad Farmhouse BRS MLAs Poaching episode occured in October 2022.

The Judge observed that the entire information sought by ED pertaining to Rohith Reddy is in public domain, as petitioner is MLA and this information is given to Election Commission, while filing nomination.

Hence, the petitioner should not have any grievance in this aspect. Only on the aspect of jurisdiction, this case will be adjudicated, the Judge observed. Justice K. Lakshman heard the Writ petition filed by Mr. Rohit Reddy MLA BRS Tandur, seeking a Stay on ED Notice.

The Judge issued Notices to the Ministry of Finance, Union of India, Directorate of Enforcement, Pravartan Bhavan, New Delhi, Dy. Director of Enforcement, Govt of India and Asst. Director PMLA, Hyderabad, directed them to file their responses by 5-1-2023 and adjourned the case.
