Obulapuram mining: Telangana HC adjourns plea against acquittal

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Wednesday adjourned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) plea challenging the acquittal of former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and ex-IAS officer B. Kripanandam in the Obulapuram mining case.

Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy, who heard the case, adjourned the hearing to August 18, 2025.

Background: Nampally court verdict

On May 6, 2025, the Nampally CBI Court had acquitted both Sabitha Indra Reddy and Kripanandam, clearing them of charges related to alleged irregularities in the Obulapuram mining operations.

CBI challenges acquittal

The CBI has moved the High Court seeking to quash their acquittal. The appeal concerns the ex-Minister and the former Secretary of Industries and Commerce, AP Government, under Sections 120B read with 409 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 132 read with 131(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
