Orange alert in TS; IMD predicts thunderstorms in districts for next 48 hours

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an orange alert in the state said thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in a few districts of Telangana for the next 48 hours.

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an orange alert in the state said thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in a few districts of Telangana for the next 48 hours.

It said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at a few places or at isolated places in the state. Some places in Telangana saw rains in the last 24 hours.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, the state's average cumulative rainfall from 1 June to 12 November 2021 is 1075.5 mm against the normal 828.4 mm with a deviation of 30%. GHMC's average cumulative rainfall during the same period is 862.6 mm against the normal 690.5 mm with a deviation of 25%.

During the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 5.2 mm was recorded at Vemsoor (Khammam) while the lowest minimum temperature of 16.8°C was recorded at Arli (T) (Adilabad) and the highest maximum temperature of 33.9°C at Mutharam (Peddapalli).

No rainfall was recorded in the GHMC area during the last 24 hours. The lowest minimum temperature of 20.5°C was recorded at Qutubullapur and the highest maximum temperature of 30.5°C was recorded at Musheerabad (Circle No. 15).

Minimum temperatures in the state are expected to be in the range of 19 to 22°C while the maximum temperatures will be in the range of 29 to 32°C. In the GHMC area, minimum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 19 to 21°C while the maximum temperatures will range between 29 to 31°C.
