Organ transplants, air ambulance: Telangana lists 10-year progress in health department
During the event, minister Harish Rao welcomed 310 pharmacists who have recently joined the esteemed ranks of the Medical Health Department

āOver the past nine years, the Telangana government has filled 22,600 positions within the medical department, with ongoing efforts to appoint an additional 7,291 posts,ā he said. Harish Rao emphasised the significance of government employment, providing opportunities for individuals to serve the community. āChief Minister K Chandrashekar Raoās administration will create 30,000 medical department jobs within a decade,ā he added.
State welcomes NITI ranking, new medical staff
During the event, minister Harish Rao welcomed 310 pharmacists who have recently joined the esteemed ranks of the Medical Health Department. These pharmacists will play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability and proper administration of medicines.
Telangana has ascended from the 11th rank in the NITI Aayog health index in 2014 to an impressive 3rd rank, with aspirations to secure the top position. Minister Harish Rao attributed this success to the dedicated medical staff and the leadership of CM KCR.
Minister Harish Rao highlighted the substantial budget allocation of 12,364 crores for healthcare and a per capita medical treatment expenditure of Rs 3,532, positioning Telangana as the third-largest spender in the country.
Telangana leading in organ transplants
He said that Telanganaās medical infrastructure is well-prepared to address health emergencies, boasting 50,000 beds and a comprehensive network of healthcare facilities. Notable projects, including Warangal Health City and the NIMS expansion, are underway to further enhance healthcare services.
Minister Harish Rao acknowledged Telanganaās leadership in organ transplants, with a significant milestone of 100 kidney transplant surgeries at NIMS Hospital within six months. Plans are in motion to establish an organ transplant centre at Gandhi Hospital.
Air ambulances for everyone
The introduction of air ambulances is set to revolutionise emergency services in the state, making life-saving interventions accessible to all. This initiative aims to democratise access to emergency care, a service previously reserved for the affluent. Harish Rao also commended a team of British Indian doctors from Telangana, led by Dr Arun, for conducting free heart operations for children at NIMS.
Minister Harish Rao concluded the event by encouraging the display of the progress report at dispensaries from the Primary Health Centre (PHC) level. This initiative aims to raise awareness of the departmentās achievements and inspire continued dedication among medical professionals.
