Paper leak fallout: TSPSC cancels AE, JE exam; new dates soon

Telangana: Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has decided to cancel the examination held on March 5.

In the notice, TSPSC said that the fresh date for the conduct of the examination will be announced later.

TSPSC issued a notification on September 12, 2022, for 837 vacancies which include posts of Assistant Engineers, MunicipalAssistant Engineers, Technical Officers, and Junior Technical Officers in various Engineering Departments. The exam was held on March 5.



On March 11, Begum Bazar police station received a complaint from the assistant secretary (administration), TSPSC, about the paper leak.

Police launched an investigation and arrested nine persons including Pulidindi Praveen Kumar, working as an assistant section officer in the TSPSC since 2017. He is also the main accused in the paper leak case. The accused sold the question paper for the March 5 exam to a government Hindi teacher and her husband from Mahaboobnagar for Rs 10 lakh. A police constable helped them find potential candidates, and the question paper was eventually sold for Rs 13.5 lakh to two individuals who appeared for the exam. Further, the investigation revealed that Praveen Kumar himself had also appeared for the exam.

On March 14, Hyderabad City Police transferred the question paper leak case to the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The investigation will be headed by Additional Commissioner (Crimes & SIT) AR Srinivas.
