Plea in HC challenges removal of 21 law officers; State gets notice

The petitioners seek a direction to continue their services in the subordinate courts till their term expires

Hyderabad: On Tuesday, the Telangana High Court asked the State government to file a response to the petition filed by 21 law officers, working in various lower courts across the State of Telangana, who were removed by the State government.

They were removed through the GO 354 Law Department dated June 26. An HC Single Bench of Justice Pulla Karthik issued notices to the secretary, Legal Affairs and Legislative Affairs and Justice, Telangana Government.

The Judge was hearing a petition filed by Nagaram Anjaiah, a government pleader working in the Principal District and Sessions Judgeā€™s Court, Bhongir and 20 other GPs, asst government pleaders, addl government pleaders working in various subordinate courts viz., in Bhongir, Nizamabad, Hyderabad, Yadadri-Bhongir, Suryapet etc. They were upset by the action of the State government in issuing the impugned GO cited, through which their services were discontinued.

The petitioners seek a direction to continue their services in the subordinate courts till their term expires.

The case was adjourned by two weeks.
