Poachgate: TS govt approaches Supreme Court

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court in the BRS MLAs poaching case. On 26 December 2022, a Telangana High Court Single Bench had ordered the transfer of the poaching case to the CBI.

The state government appealed the Single Bench order in the High Court Division Bench. The latter, on 6 February, dismissed the state governmentā€™s writ appeal.

On Tuesday, opposing the verdict of the Telangana High Court to transfer the poaching case to CBI, the TS government filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court senior counsel Dushyant Dave submitted before the CJI Chandrachudā€™s Bench to immediately hear the petition from the Telangana state government. Further, Mr. Dave expresses concern that all evidence would be destroyed if a CBI probe commences.

The CJI directed Mr. Dave to bring it before the court on Wednesday.

Moreover, CJI Chandrachud said the matter may be mentioned on Wednesday and even if he does not mention it, it will be heard next week.
