Praja Prasthanam padayatra concludes; YS Sharmila to hold public rally at Palair

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party chief YS Sharmila’s Praja Prasthanam padayatra is all set to enter its concluding stage after covering more than 4000 km across Telangana.

A public meeting is scheduled to be held on March 5 in Palair, where the padayatra is set to conclude on a high note. Palair has already grabbed substantial limelight after YS Sharmila announced that she would contest from the constituency.

Padayatra currently has crossed 3800 km and will touch 4111 km when it ends in Palair in Khammam district. Praja Prasthanam began on October 20, 2021, in Chevella, the constituency that held a great sentiment for the late Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy. YS Sharmila took the same point as origin as she vowed to replicate her father’s legacy.

In a statement, the party said for the last 17 months, YS Sharmila traveled across the length and breadth of Telangana, covering 83 Assembly constituencies over 255 days, 65 municipalities, 2185 villages, and five municipal corporations.

During this phase, YS Sharmila interacted with all sections of society, understanding their plight and problems, exposing the ruling party’s failures and atrocities, and intensely targeting local MLAs. The padayatra witnessed 151 serious one-to-many interactions, 78 public meetings, 22 Nirudyoga Nirahara Deekshas, and 783 village meetings.

The party said there were tense moments too when her padayatra was attacked and her bus and properties were badly damaged in Narsampet in the Warangal district. “This led to her arrest and being brought back to Hyderabad, where she went on a fast-unto-death, finally getting permission from the Honourable High Court of Telangana State to continue the yatra,” the party said.

The party said padayatra is a major milestone but will spark off many more struggles and battles for the sake of the people.

“Our fight against the atrocious rule of KCR will continue, and we will also expose the double standards of the main opposition parties of the state, that dance to the tunes of the ruling party, and have failed to stand by the side of the people. Today, YSR Telangana Party is the only regional party that is dedicated exclusively to the cause of Telangana, while the ruling BRS is even reluctant to utter Jai Telangana, these days,” the party said.
