Prepare for a cold Valentines Day: As temp drops in TS, 5 places see Mercury below 8°C

Hyderabad: Temperatures further dropped for a second day across Telangana. According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Bazarhathnoor in Adilabad recorded the state's lowest temperature of 7.3°Celsius in the last 24 hours.


Four other places in the state saw Mercury levels below Arli in Adilabad which records the lowest temperatures in the state. Kerameri in Kumaram Bheem recorded 7.6°Celsius, Bela in Adilabad recorded 7.9°Celsius, Wankidi in Komaram Bheem recorded 7.9°Celsius, and Sonala in Adilabad recorded 7.9°Celsius. In the last 24 hours, Arli recorded 8.1°Celsius.

Besides, Rajendranagar (8.3) in Kumaram Bheem, Mutharam Mahadevpur (8.4) in Jaishankar, Pochara (8.6) in Adilabad, and Pembi (8.7) in Nirmal also recorded single-digit temperatures.

According to TSDPS, in the GHMC area, the Agricultural Research Institute in Rajendranagar recorded the lowest temperature of 11.8°degrees Celsius, followed by the BHEL factory (12.1) in Sangareddy and Bandlaguda (12.5) in Medchal Malkajgiri.

T. Balaji, popularly known as the Telangana Weatherman, tweeted, "Chilly weather continues. As the cold winds continue to blow from the north, temp have significantly dropped in north Telangana, many places recorded single-digit temp. Hyderabad too witnessed a drop in temp, Rajendranagar recorded the lowest temp of 11.8°C. Temp to rise from now."

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad, in its five-day weather forecast, has predicted temperatures between 5 to 11°Celsius in some parts of the state on 13 and 14 February.

Sharing a map marking the likely minimum temperatures in the state on the nights of 13 and 14 February, Rajanikanth Poolla, another independent weather observer in the state, tweeted that NE Telangana may see cold wave conditions with minimum temperatures near 9-10°Celsius while temperatures in Central TS can drop to 10-11°Celsius.

Meanwhile, the state's maximum temperature of 36.2°Celsius was recorded in Wyra in Khammam.
