Hyderabad: On the eve of the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations, Governor of Telangana, Tamilisai Soundararajan said the struggle in the Hyderabad region during the Liberation Movement is considered to be one of the most historic freedom struggles ever witnessed. We are now proudly celebrating this memorable day in our 75th year of Independence, she said.
"Though India got Independence on August 15th, 1947, the erstwhile Hyderabad, consisting of Telangana, Marathwada, and Hyderabad-Karnataka, could breathe the air of freedom on September 17th, 1948. The present generation should know about the struggle of pain our people underwent during the Hyderabad Liberation Movement," said Governor Soundararajan.
Further, she said remembering this day will be like a salute to their sacrifices. "Let us all remember the liberation fighters who dedicated their lives to the cause of liberation of the Hyderabad State on this day," she added.
All the political parties have planned various events to celebrate the liberation day. TRS has kick started their celebrations with a tiranga rally on Friday.
Meanwhile, the BJP Mahila Morcha organized a bike rally from Bhagyalakshmi Temple in Charminar to Sardar Vallabai Patel via Parade Grounds on 15 September. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to arrive at Hyderabad on Friday to kick start the party's year long Liberation Day celebrations on 17 September.
