Raja Singh case: TS HC adjourns matter for four weeks

Telangana High Court gave the state government four weeks to file a counter affidavit in the plea demanding security and basic facilities for MLA Raja Singh in Cherlapally Jail.

Justice Kanneganti Lalitha considered the request made by Home Department Counsel Manoj and adjourned the matter for four weeks.

On Wednesday, Justice Kanneganti Lalitha heard the writ petition filed by Usha Bai, wife of T. Raja Singh, praying for basic amenities including a Cot Bed, Table, Chair, Newspaper, and necessary Medical essentials for her husband.

She said these are basic facilities given to a special class prisoner as per the Telangana Prison Rules.

She also urged to provide security to T. Raja Singh. She said other prison inmates might threaten and cause harm to her husband.

Senior Counsel Ravichandra appeared for the petitioner. He requested the Court that no clear relief is provided to Raja Singh in jail.

Counsel for Home Department Manoj requested the Court to give some time to file Counter Affidavit. Justice Kanneganti Lalitha later adjourned the matter for four weeks.
