Hyderabad: Telangana Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjanreddy on Monday said the state government will transfer 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme funds into farmers' bank accounts on December 28.
The government has been crediting the amount to farmers' accounts twice a year for the past three years. The assistance has been increased from Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 per acre.
In a statement, Niranjanreddy said during the last seven phases, the state government has released Rs 43,036.63 crore to the farmers under the 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme. He said the state government is all set to transfer Rs 7645.66 crore into the accounts of 66.61 lakh farmers' during the eighth phase of the Rythu Bandhu scheme to be released on Tuesday.
So far, the state government has released Rs 50,000 crore including the 8th phase of Rythu Bandhu scheme funds, he said. Reddy said that the Rythu Bandhu scheme was one of the 20 prominent schemes across the world.
Rythu Bandhu is the flagship program of the KCR government. During the international symposium on agriculture reforms held in November 2018, this scheme was categorized as one of the 20 best innovations.
Later in 2019, the central government started Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi.
