Sravan Dasoju resigns from Congress over Revanth's high-handedness
Senior Congress members said new members are being appointed to the party without following the consultation process
By Kaniza Garari Published on 5 Aug 2022 1:52 PM GMTHyderabad: Congress party's national spokesperson Sravan Dasoju resigned from the party on 5 August citing the high-handed behaviour of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy.
Mr. Dasoju told the media, "Revanth Reddy does not care about the people in the party. It is very disappointing that he does not share the ideals of the Congress workers. He brought caste into politics."
Senior members of Congress agree that Mr. Dasoju took the step due to the high-handedness of Revanth Reddy.
Mr. Dasoju added, "Several senior and loyal Congress members and workers are upset with him. He is misrepresenting party ideals. The party in Telangana is suffering because of his insincerity and lack of dedication. I, along with other senior members, tried our best to strengthen it but our efforts have gone in vain."
The former Congress leader, in his press conference, said, "Congress party is not being built in TS. It is only the image of Revanth that is being promoted in every constituency. He thinks TPCC is a franchise he bought from All India Congress Committee."
Cracks in TS Congress
There have been rumblings in the Congress party with regards to Telangana. Thirty-five senior members from Telangana also had a meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
A senior Congressman, on condition of anonymity, said, "After our meeting with Mr. Gandhi, no steps have been taken. Revanth Reddy's behaviour has not changed. Due to this reason, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and now Dasoju Sravan have resigned. There will be more to follow if no action is taken."
Congress members said new members are being appointed to the party without following the consultation process.
"There was also a lot of meddling in the constituency of Khairtabad. Sravan did not like it and when he raised his voice, no one was willing to listen to him. If this kind of behaviour continues, there will not be any Congress loyalists left," said another senior Congressman.
