Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court, on Monday, issued notices to the state government directing them to respond to a PIL that accused the state government of not stopping real estate builders from making illegal constructions on the Komati Kunta lake in Bachupally village, Nizampet.
The Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice NV Shravan Kumar, was adjudicating a public interest litigation filed by Akula Satish, a social service worker, who was aggrieved by the inaction of the district collector of Medchal Malkajgiri District, municipal commissioner of Nizampet and EE Irrigation and Tahsildar of Nizampet for not restraining private real estate builders from making illegal constructions in blocks 8 and 9 in survey numbers 127 and 137, a part of Komati Kunta lake.
The counsel for the petitioner, during the course of the hearing, sought a direction to the officials concerned to stop the further constructions and safeguard the water body from extinction.
The Division Bench issued notices to the chief secretary, assistant executive engineer of the CAD Department, District Collector of Medchal, municipal commissioner of Nizampet, SHO of Bachupally and P Vijay Kumar Yerram, representative of Vasavi Infra Private Limited, directing them to respond to the notices within four weeks.
