'T-storm day' ahead: Yellow alert in Telangana for two days

On 16 May, too, IMD had predicted thunderstorms with rainfall in some parts of the state. Besides, there is an orange alert on the heatwave conditions prevailing in isolated pockets over Telangana.

T-storm day ahead: Yellow alert in Telangana for two days

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, on Sunday issued a yellow alert in Telangana for 15 and 16 May. According to IMD's weather forecast, thunderstorm accompanied by light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in isolated places in a few districts of Telangana on Sunday.

On 16 May, too, IMD had predicted thunderstorms with rainfall in some parts of the state. Besides, there is an orange alert on the heatwave conditions prevailing in isolated pockets over Telangana.

T. Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, tweeted on Sunday morning, "Today is going to be another T-storm day over Telangana. Activities will start from afternoon and will continue till midnight. Violent storms expected at few places." He further said it will be hot in the state.

IMD has also predicted light to moderate rains or thunderstorms in isolated parts of Telangana from 15 to 20 May.

Meanwhile, on 14 May, several districts across Telangana like Vikarabad, Medak, Sangareddy, and Rangareddy received heavy rainfall. Some places in Hyderabad like Chevalla, Moinabad, and Tellapur received good showers but some other parts failed to receive much rain.

Amidst the showers, temperatures across the state are increasing rapidly. According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Kuntala in Nirmal recorded the state's highest maximum temperature of 45.5°Celsius in the last 24 hours. In Hyderabad, Suleman Nagar in Bahadurpura recorded the city's highest maximum temperature of 41.8°Celsius.
