Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, working president for the BRS party and BRS MLA Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy filed a petition in the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the criminal case registered against them.
TV Ramana Rao, the counsel for KTR and Jagdish Reddy, on Friday informed the HC Bench, comprising Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya, that the complainant in the case, Chintapandu Naveen alias MLC Teenmaar Mallanna, is not serious enough to pursue this case either before the investigating officer or the High Court here.
What is the case about?
In the complaint, Teenmar Mallanna said that when he was being fielded by the Congress party to contest the MLC election, held on May 27, 2024, and KTR and Jagdish Reddy were spreading fake, false and scandalous videos on various social media platforms against him, which will would have had a serious impact on the voters in the MLC elections to Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam constituency.
On Friday, the judge was adjudicating the criminal petition filed by KTR and Jagdish Reddy for quashing the case.
The counsel informed the court that the IO issued notice to Teenmaar Mallanna on April 15, followed by another notice on June 18, directing him to appear before it, but the complainant showed scant regard for notice, which shows that the complainant is disinterested in pursuing this case.
On the other hand, Palle Nageshwar Rao requested the court to issue a direction to the IO to complete the investigation based on the material present before him by fixing a time frame, rather than quashing the criminal proceedings.
The case was adjourned to June 27 for further arguments.
