Telangana constitutes committee of social scientists to study household survey

Hyderabad: The state government has constituted an independent committee of social scientists to study the door-to-door household survey.
The comprehensive household survey was conducted to gather data about the social, economic, political, and educational status of the people.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu wanted the intellectuals and social scientists to analyze the data of the survey without giving scope for any lapse or error.
Bhatti Vikramarka met with the members of the Advisory Committee at the Secretariat on Friday.
Justice Sudharshan Reddy will be the chairman of the Committee. Retired professor Kancha Ilayya and Pravin Chakravarthy will be Vice Chairman and the Convener of the Committee, respectively.
Dr Sukhadev, retired Professor Purushotham Reddy, Shanta Sinha, Prof Himanshu, and Prof Bhukya Bhangy will be the members. Jean Dreze, who will be the special invitee.
Bhatti Vikramarka said that the experts' committee has to submit the survey report to the Planning Department within a month.
The comprehensive household survey encompassing the social, economic, political, and educational status of various categories of society was taken up at the instance of the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge with a noble objective.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Congress government got the survey done with sincerity, as it wanted to lay the foundation for social justice in society.
The government did not want even a small error to creep into the monumental programme and, hence, made an in-depth study and convened meetings with all the stakeholders before rolling out the survey.
Every 150 households were made into a block and got the survey done with State government employees.
Socially conscious intellectuals in the State and the country were made partners with an independent status to study the data collected in the household survey, the Deputy CM said.
Planning Secretary Sundeep Sultania participated in the meeting.
