Telangana floods: NTV journalists body fished out after two days in Jagtial

Hyderabad: Body of Telugu Journalist Zameer was fished out two days after he went missing at Raikal Mandal, Jagtial.

His body was found in the bushes nearly 4 km away from the spot he went missing. The car too was found on Thursday morning.

Zameer had gone missing on July 13 after being washed away by the flood waters. He was working with Telugu news channel `NTV'.

The incident occurred when he and his colleague were crossing a flooded road in a car in Bornapalli village in Raikal Mandal of Jagtial.

According to sources, Zameer along with another NTV journalist Irshad had gone to report on the nine agricultural laborers who were trapped in the Godavari at Jagtial.

Irshad however managed to skid safe. "I also cruised through the water for a long time before catching hold of a tree branch and lifting myself out. Zameer was trying to open the door. He was sitting in the backseat of the car. I am not sure if he opened the door or not, whether he fell into the water." said Irshad.

He said the road was filled with water and fallen trees. He urged the public not to come to the spot.

On the day Zameer went missing, Jagtial received 115.6 mm-204.4 mm rainfall.
