HyderabadL ₹9,000 Crore Rythu Bharosa by April-End by Telangana government
Hyderabad: In a major relief to the farmers, Telangana government has announced the schedule for the disbursement of funds under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will officially launch the disbursement process on March 22, 2026, from Narmetta in the Siddipet district.
The decision was finalized following a high-level review meeting held by the chief minister Revanth Reddy with deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka, agriculture minister Thummala Nageswara Rao, and senior officials.
Disbursement schedule & phasing
The government has committed to a total expenditure of ₹9,000 crore, which will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of farmers via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in three distinct phases:
First Installment (March 22): Approximately ₹3,590 crore will be released. This phase specifically targets nearly 70 lakh farmers who own up to one acre of land, ensuring that small and marginal holders receive priority.
Second Installment: A further ₹2,650 crore is scheduled for release approximately 20 days after the first phase (early April).
Third & Final Installment: The remaining funds will be cleared by the end of April 2026, completing the total disbursement for the season.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the funds are intended to provide timely investment support for agricultural needs, ensuring farmers do not fall into debt traps before the upcoming season.
Rythu Bharosa under the Congress Government
The Rythu Bharosa scheme is investment support program for the farmers.
Key Evolutions of the Scheme:
Enhanced Financial Aid: The government initially faced fiscal challenges but officially launched the transition to Rythu Bharosa in early 2025, providing ₹12,000 per acre annually (split into ₹6,000 for the Kharif and Rabi/Yasangi seasons).
Inclusion of Tenant Farmers & Laborers: Congress government expanded the scope to include tenant farmers and landless agricultural laborers providing them with ₹12,000 per year.
Strict Eligibility Criteria: To ensure funds are not diverted to non-agricultural land, the government introduced stricter guidelines. Support is now restricted to cultivable land only; real estate ventures, hillocks, industrial zones, and mining areas are excluded from the scheme.
Phased Implementation: Due to the state's financial position, the government has adopted a phased approach—starting with small and marginal farmers (under one acre) before moving to those with larger landholdings.
