Hyderabad: A Telangana High Court Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji dismissed a contempt case filed against state DGP, CPs and SPs for allegedly not implementing the Supreme Court orders prohibiting the use of black films and screens on safety glasses and windshields of vehicles.
The court was dealing with a contempt case filed by T. Dhangopal Rao (51), a public interest judicial activist and law student, against Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar and the CPs and SPs of the state for wilfully violating the directions of the Supreme Court passed in Avishek Goenka Vs Union of India prohibiting the use of black screens on safety glasses and windshields of vehicles.
The petitioner stated that the offices of the respondent officials have not furnished the information with regard to the implementation of the SC directions so far in response to his application dated 6 February 2023.
The High Court upheld the decision of the Registry, High Court denying the allotment of number for the CC, saying that it is not maintainable for a contempt case (CC).
