The High Court Bench of Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy was hearing the plea filed by Y.S. Sharmila, the president of YSRTP, alleging that cancelling the permission accorded for the rally and public meeting within the limits of Mahabubabad police station, Mahabubabad district was illegal.
M. Roopender, GP for Home, informed the court that during the march, Sharmila did not comply with the orders of the High Court and made derogatory, vulgar, and provocative remarks and speeches. He submitted a video clip to the judge which showed Sharmila making some vulgar and derogatory remarks.
After observing the video clip, Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy opined that it was very serious. The court, while giving permission, had clearly mentioned that they should not use provocative speeches and derogatory remarks. “It’s sheer contempt of court. If a man uses such language, can a woman tolerate it? You are not complying with the court conditions,” Justice Vijaysen Reddy said.
Y.S. Sharmila’s counsel informed the court that the local MLA had made some derogatory remarks against Sharmila and she replied to him in the same manner.
Justice Vijaysen Reddy warned the counsel that the petitioner must comply with the orders of the court.
Further, Justice Vijaysen Reddy directed the counsel to file an affidavit saying Y.S. Sharmila from now will not use such derogatory language and provocative speeches targeting individuals.
For further hearing, the matter was adjourned to 3 March.
