Telangana HC orders police not to arrest BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy in criminal case till April 28

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court directed the police not to arrest BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy till April 28 in a criminal case registered against him in Subedari Police Station.

Justice Kunuru Lakshman told public prosecutor, Palle Nageshwar Rao, that ā€œThis is not the first case I am hearing filed by MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, but it is the third or fourth case I am hearing, wherein he is seeking quash of the proceedings in the FIRs registered against him. What is going on?ā€

This observation was made by the judge when the public prosecutor was insisting that the Judge not grant any interim protection to the petitioner, Padi Kaushik Reddy.

Earlier, on April 21, Justice Kunuru Lakshman, during the hearing of the criminal petition filed by Padi Kaushik Reddy, seeking quash of the No 252 of 2025, questioned the action of the police in showing haste in arresting the MLA, when the investigation is still going on. He asked about the urgency when the investigating officer had not yet obtained call data records of the petitioner and the complainant.

The Judge made it ample clear to the IO, Subedari Police, that if the police arrest Padi Kaushik Reddy, then the Judge will order the personal appearance of the DGP.

Justice Kunuru Lakshman, asked the public prosecutor as to where was the necessity for Katta Uma Devi, the complainant, wife of Manoj Reddy in going to the Subedari PS on April 21 at 9 pm in the night and on the same day, the Subedari PS had registered the FIR against the petitioner Padi Kaushik Reddy without verifying the contents of the complaint and without conducting a prelimarny enquiry

Justice Lakshman directed the police not to arrest MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy till April 28.

The judge was hearing the criminal petition filed by MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, Huzurabad Assembly Constituency, seeking direction to call for the records relating to FIR No 252 of 2025 of PS Subedari, District Warangal and quash the same.
