Hyderabad: On Thursday, the Telangana High Court reserved orders on the petition challenging the election of BRS MP Bheemrao Baswanthrao Patil to the Zaheerabad Parliamentary Constituency in 2018.
The counsel for the petitioner K Madan Mohan Rao, who contested in the 2018 elections on an Indian National Congress ticket, challenged the election of BB Patil and sought a direction to declare the election āinvalidā.
The counsel for BB Patil argued before the court that the petitioner has not filed the Election Petition (EP) within 45 days from the date of the election. Hence the EP should be dismissed as per Order 7, Rule 11 of CPC.
The counsel for the petitioner informed the court that BB Patil, as per the orders of the Supreme Court, did not submit copies of the newspapers to the EC which have information of criminal cases pending against him, and has not complied with the other orders of the Supreme Court too.
Justice Sambasiva Rao Naidu heard both arguments and reserved the order on the petition to August 10.
