Telangana High Court refuses to grant permission to RSS for Bhainsa march

Hyderabad: A Telangana High Court Single Bench of Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy declined to give RSS permission for the Padha Sanchalan (route march) and Sharirik Pradarshan on 19 February in Bhainsa Town.

On Friday, Sadula Krishnadas, the sanghachalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bhainsa unit, filed a lunch motion petition aggrieved by the action of the police department in not giving RSS permission to conduct Padha Sanchalan and Sharirik Pradarshan on 19 February between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Bhainsa town on the eve of Nagara Sharirik Utsavam programme.

Counsel for the petitioner Surya Karan Reddy informed the court that biennially, the RSS organises a programme called Sharirik Utsavam at nagar/town level wherein the members/workers of the said nagar/town dress up in their uniforms and march along the streets. They end the march by giving Sharirik Pradarshan (physical performances) and conclude with a speech by one of the senior members of RSS.

Further, Surya Karan Reddy requested the court to grant permission for the march as the police department was refusing to grant the permission for some reason or the other.

GP for Home Samala Ravinder informed the court that Bhainsa is a communally-sensitive place. Moreover, Shab-e-Miraj (Badi Raat) is on 19 February which is celebrated by Muslims and may cause hindrances in Bhainsa town.

Ravinder further said that other than 19 February, they may opt for any other day and they will consent to the petitioner’s request. To avoid communal tension and maintain a peaceful atmosphere in Bhainsa town, earlier, the court had permitted the BJP to hold a rally and public meeting outside Bhainsa town, the GP informed the court.

After hearing the contentions of both sides, Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy suggested the petitioner hold the rally on some other day and directed the GP for Home Samala Ravinder to get instructions from the police authorities concerned.

The matter was adjourned to 20 February.
