Hyderabad: A total of 1,569 hospitals in Telangana have been inspected so far, of which 81 have been seized. Notices have been issued to 416 hospitals and fines have been imposed on 68 hospitals.
The highest number of hospitals have been inspected in Karimnagar (210), followed by Rangareddy (204), Bhadradri Kothagudem (132) and Hyderabad (130).
The Telangana Health Department has inspected hospitals in almost all districts except Nalgonda, Medak and Jayshekar Bhulapally. "Inspections will begin in these three districts as well," said Telangana Director of Public Health (DPH) Dr G Srinivas Rao.
The Clinical Establishments (Registrations and Regulation) Rules, 2011, give health authorities the authority to inspect private health care facilities' premises. The Act empowers the health department to grant, renew, suspend, and cancel hospital registration, investigate violations of complaints, and enforce compliance with the Act's provisions and rules, according to officials.
Dr G Srinivas Rao stated that all Telangana private hospitals, clinics, consultations and non-allopathic hospitals, along with other such establishments, must register themselves as per Clinical Establishment Act 2020.
He suggested the public to alert the health officials to be informed if there are any improper health facilities.
Rao stated that several hospitals are being inspected, especially after a patient came forward with a complaint stating that a hospital's management had demanded more money than usual. He also added that multiple discrepancies have been found in hospitals in terms of medical health care facilities.
