Telangana shivers: Cold wave continues; Sangareddys Satwar records 10.7°C

Hyderabad: Since 20 October, there has been a steep drop in temperatures across Telangana, including Hyderabad.

In the last 24 hours, Satwar in Sangareddy recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature of 10°Celsius. In Hyderabad, the lowest minimum temperature of 14.2°Celsius was recorded in West Marredpally.

Tweeting about the weather condition, T. Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, said the cold wave is expected to continue for the next two days. "Intense coldwave to continue in Telangana including Hyderabad for the next two days. Thereafter due to the North East Monsoon, there will be respite from coldwave from November 1."

Balaji further added that there is a possibility of light rains in southern parts of Telangana on 1 and 2 November and dry weather will continue in the state after that.

Why sudden drop in temperatures?

When the NewsMeter reached out to weather expert Balaji, he said that the northerly dry winds are causing the cold weather. "The sudden drop in temperatures is due to the massive northerly dry winds being pulled into Telangana. This was due to previous cyclone Sitrang and the dry and cold northerly wind effect continued till today. But from 1 November, it will slowly fade away. Cloudy weather with warmer nights will follow thereafter," explained Balaji.
